Find answers to common questions about searching for dentists, understanding our data, and using DentalVitals.
Getting Started
How do I search for a dentist?
Use the search bar on the homepage. Enter a dentist's name, practice name, city, or zip code. Results appear instantly with practice profiles including ratings, technology badges, and Vitals Scores.
How do I understand the search results?
Each search result card shows the practice name, lead dentist, specialty, Google rating, Vitals Score, and key technology badges. Click any card to view the full practice profile with all 50+ data points.
How do I compare practices?
Search for practices in your area and compare them side-by-side in the results view. Look at Vitals Scores, technology badges, Google ratings, and whether they're accepting new patients to make an informed decision.
Understanding Scores
What is the Vitals Score?
The Vitals Score is a 0–100 proprietary rating that measures a practice's digital readiness and modernity. It factors in technology adoption, online booking, patient portals, web presence, and digital engagement tools.
What do the technology badges mean?
Technology badges indicate specific equipment and digital tools a practice uses — like Digital X-Rays, CEREC same-day crowns, Intraoral Cameras, 3D Imaging, Laser Dentistry, and Online Booking. A checkmark means the practice has that technology; a dash means it wasn't detected.
What does the modernity rating measure?
The modernity rating reflects how up-to-date a practice's technology and digital infrastructure are. Practices with newer equipment, digital workflows, and patient-facing tools score higher than those using older or manual processes.
Appointments
How do I request an appointment?
On any practice profile page, click the "Request Appointment" button. Fill in your name, phone, email, and preferred date. The request goes directly to the practice, who will follow up to confirm.
What happens after I request an appointment?
The practice receives your request by email and will contact you to confirm the appointment. Response times vary by practice — most respond within 1–2 business days.
Can I cancel an appointment request?
Since appointment requests are sent directly to the practice, you'll need to contact them directly to cancel. Their phone number and email are available on their profile page.
Account & Privacy
Do I need an account to use DentalVitals?
No. You can search for dentists, view profiles, and request appointments without creating an account. DentalVitals is completely free for patients with no sign-up required.
What data do you collect about me?
When you search, we don't collect personal information. If you submit an appointment request or contact form, that information is only used to fulfill your request and is not sold to third parties.
How can I delete my search history?
DentalVitals doesn't store your search history. Searches are processed in real-time and not linked to any personal profile or account.
